Here are the top 5 Marijuana Strains for Beginners:
Northern Lights
This legendary marijuana strain is of unknown origin and it is mostly Indica. Northern Lights can give you Euphoric effects and it is a great enhancer for activities. It is usually used for relaxing and relieving stress. This can cause higher levels of dry mouth than any other strains.
This can be grown indoors and outdoors. However, many people have reported great results when grown outdoors because it can show its full potentials outside. It is a hardy marijuana strain which can be harvested in a short period of time. It can usually be harvested within 2 months of flowering time. Its dense buds do not usually give strong odor that’s why you don’t have that much problem getting the noses of your neighbors curious with what you are growing.
If grown well, Northern Lights can provide you with an above average or average yield. Even if it does not grow tall, this plant can still provide you with average to above average yield which is pretty awesome.
Our thoughts: We have tried growing this strain and we can say that this marijuana plant is very easy to grow. It is potent and can be harvested quickly. This is not quite for flavor though but she’s not quite that odorless. We can recommend this strain for those who are just starting up because this is stealthy and finishes early yet can provide you with a very rewarding yield.

AK – 48
AK-48 marijuana strain is usually confused as AK – 47, however this particular strain is easier to grow than AK – 47 and is extremely social high provider. It is a result of the breeding between Jock Horror and Ice marijuana strains. These two parent plants have the bloodlines of Afghani, Northern Lights, Skunk, and Shiva.
The effect of AK- 48 is more of a Sativa even if it is a hybrid. Many people have benefited from this because it is good for relieving stress and anxiety. It is known for being an up lifter and an energizer.
Like Northern Lights, AK-48 can be grown indoors and outdoors (soil or hydro). You don’t have to worry about any root problems because this plant is very much resistant to that. It reacts well to growth control methods so beginners can well control this plant.
However, there is a downside about this strain when it comes to growing because it does not like high temperatures. You should make sure that the temperature is not above 85 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 degrees Celsius. You will know if it’s almost harvest time because a pleasant sweet odor will start ramping up towards the end of the flowering stage as it starts to be ready for harvest.
The yields can reach to above the average. We were able to try growing this strain outdoors and it actually grown to a tall weed which reached to 12 feet tall and 15 feet wide and yielded to 4-5 pounds per plant. We were able to grow 5 plants outdoors and it was an amazing experience. The indoor AK – 48 only yielded 10 – 15 ounces per plant and we were growing 5 inside a small tent.
Our Thoughts: AK – 48 is one of our favorite smokes. We are actually growing more of this strain indoors (we don’t do it outdoors anymore because it’s hard to hide it). The taste is great and the smell is slightly sweet, fruity and spicy.

Aurora Indica
Aurora Indica is a first generation hybrid of Afghan and Northern Lights which can give you a stoney, couch lock effect. It is an ultra potent Indica which is great for treating nusea. Its THC level reaches 19.7{2b4a1a3f3bbc9c5a43771f34362679a3afcf9df24c0d9f4fe2fa80a69d802033} which is very much awesome.
It can grow well because like any other first generation hybrids, this is very resistant to problems. This marijuana strain is just tough and can grow well thus this is perfect for new growers. This can handle higher temperatures and can easily be trained which means that this can adopt to temperature. This is a known short grower but there are some of our friends who reported that Auro Indica grew into a tall, leggy, Sativa-like plant with no effects on their buds. Within 7 – 9 weeks, this strain is ready for harvest. However, you have to make sure that you have some odor control set because it will give a heavy odor as harvest time approaches.
The fat colas and the high yield can make you say “wow”. We were able to get 16 oz per plant in our last harvest for an indoor grow (it was in a small grow tent).
Our thoughts: If you are looking for an easy to grow strain which is high yielding, then this is for you.

Jack Herer
Jock Horror and Jack Herer are named with almost the same names. They have the same genetics and high but trust us when we say that Jack Herer is better because it is the original.
The effects of Jack Herer are amazing. It includes euphoric, creative yet uplifting. The effects are almost the same with haze and it helps in relieving stress and anxiety. It is also used to relief pain, headaches and muscle spasms.
Beginner growers can grow Jack Herer without any problem. It can grow to a medium to tall height. This strain starts to grow taller which usually doubles in height or more after it begins its flowering stage except if you use controlling methods to keep it short. This strain finishes quickly which averages at 2 and half months. It grows well indoors. It can be grown outdoors as well but it can dwell well in a sunny or Mediterranean climate during a long summer. It cannot stand too hot temperatures though. This strain is not picky but you might need to get some close attention to its needs like proper soil, light, fertilizer, soil, etc to make it grow fine. If grown well, Jack Herer can provide you with an average amount of yield.
Our Thoughts: Jack Herer has won a lot of awards which are more than the other marijuana strains available now. Not the easiest to grow but new growers can still grow this well.

Super Lemon Haze
Super Lemon Haze is a breed of Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze where it got its name from. This is a surprisingly strong strain which can give you with an energetic and creative effect which is perfect for daytime use. This does not cause couchlock and this would leave you energetic. If you have experienced anxiety or paranoia in the past, then this is not for you. The effect is fast and it would hit you like a ton of bricks. Dry eyes and dry mouth are usually experienced by smokers. I have tried smoking this weed and it is awesome.
This can get tall which can grow into a Christmas tree like plant. This can be controlled though. We tried controlling her growth and we were successful. It needs to 2 to 4 months in the flowering stage before you can harvest it. However, it is worth your wait because it can provide you with a very high harvest amount.
Our Thoughts: Super Lemon Haze was the 2008 High Times Cannabis Cup Winner. This one is our favorite in GrowingMarijuanaTips.com because of its lemon like flavor and the effects are strong but clear-headed. During parties where we need a lot to get done, then I prefer to go for this strain because it won’t weigh you down and it makes everything makes you feel a little bit awesome.
