Plant Counts are the Most Ridiculous, Cannabis Legalization

Did you spend the summer growing 5 micro cannabis plants? Well if you did your growing cannabis illegally. It doesn’t matter if your buddy down the street grew one 15 foot tall plant that yielded 100X more than you did. His cannabis garden was completely legal and you would get fined or could even go to jail for growing 5 micro plants. In this article we will break down how ridiculous “plant counts” are for legalization and why they need to go away yesterday.

Why do we have Legalized Plant Counts?

For some reason the people that you elected into government seem to think that plant counts are a good idea and that we need them to keep control over “illegal selling” of cannabis. Does it make any sense, well not from anyone with any common sense it doesn’t. At one point in Canada under the Cannabis Act government officials even wanted to have plants that were no taller than 1 meter height or they would then be illegal.

Is that plant over your back fence, here come the measuring tape cops! Does that include the root Mr. Measuring Tape Cop? We know it sounds completely ridiculous. Government seems to think that plant counts should matter when it comes to cannabis legalization. We believe that it has more to do with licensed cannabis markets operators trying to keep as much home grown cannabis out of peoples hands as possible.

Even in legal markets they don’t have indoor cannabis plant counts, the majority of the time it comes down to how many plant legal growers can fit into one space. It comes down to the acreage rather than the plant counts. Even legalized growing doesn’t have plant counts for some reason. Maybe because they don’t make any sense?

Why Not Get Rid of Plant Counts All Together?

So why not get rid of plant counts all together, they don’t make any sense whatsoever. Why do 30 small plants need to be illegal while one giant plant isn’t illegal? It really makes no sense, it does nothing to lower the amount of cannabis one person can grow. One grower could grow a few pounds legally while that other grower is growing 30 small plants illegally.

Governments Seem to think this makes sense

It really seems like for government bureaucrats, this is what legalized cannabis looks like. Growing one plant indoors, with many colas, that is well trained can look like 100 plants if done correctly. We really can’t figure out why one set of roots equals safety over 10 sets of roots.  Government needs to get over this, and start removing plant counts. There really is no reason for them, other than trying to make anti-cannabis prohibitionists happy with the way they are creating legalization.

Calling on the Governments to Remove Plant Limits

It’s time to start telling your elected officials that plant counts don’t make any sense in the world of full cannabis legalization. Contact your local government and ask them why they have these in the first place and explain why they make no sense. Now that we are in the age of cannabis legalization it’s time to start real legalization and remove plant counts for growers, not just licensed growers.

Whether you have a 1 plant count or a 10 plant count in your area there is really no need for them anymore. It’s like saying you can only brew six beers. Well six garbage bins for beer isn’t the same as six bottles and that’s why we don’t have beer brew counts. We don’t need them for any more reasons than we need cannabis plant counts.
