Cannabis Country Interview With Matt Cohen From Triqsystems About Their Tirqsoft System

We recently got a interview with Matt Cohen from Triqsystems about their new software product. If your in the cannabis field this is something you should check out. Weather your a grower, or a dispensary, this information could benefit you.

To give you a better understanding of the company and their product, we did a great Q&A interview. We cover everything you need to know about the company, and their products they have to offer.

Below is the Q&A session we had with Matt Cohen

1. What is TRiQ Systems?

TRiQ is a supply chain solutions
provider for the legal cannabis industry providing equipment, software
and consulting.

2. What is your experience in the legal
cannabis industry?
I have been a cannabis legalization
activist since college and dove into the industry in 1999 as dispensaries
began to open on the heels of CA’s Proposition 215. I have founded
and run multiple companies over the years ranging from large indoor
cultivation, to large greenhouse cultivation, to dispensaries, to vertical
farm-direct e-commerce based entities, to running the supply chain for
the largest medical dispensary in the world. I have also co-founded
several industry trade groups.
3. How is TRiQSoft different from other
“grow” software?
The cannabis cultivation management
software space is still quite small. There are a handful of other
companies out there, but they typically have evolved from point-of-sale
systems in Colorado. They developed organically around the Colorado
medical cannabis market providing mainly POS, but with a compliance
piece tracking the product back to the plant. TRiQsoft was built
specifically for cannabis agriculture and manufacturing. In fact,
it is not a POS at all. TRiQsoft was developed as collaboration
between FarmSoft, a company with 15+ years in the agricultural software
space and TRiQ’s cannabis experts. In many ways TRiQsoft was
not built organically at all, it was built in consideration of a vision
of the future of cannabis where it looks much more like many other commercial
products. The functionality inside TRiQsoft is far superior to
any of the other “grow” softwares on the market as it actually manages
all aspects of the cultivation, processing and manufacturing business
except accounting. TRiQsoft does integrate with POS solutions
and accounting solutions, but we strive to focus on our mission at TRiQ
and that is to be the leading cannabis supply chain solution provider
which has nothing to do with POS and accounting. Some functions
of TRiQsoft include: international food-grade traceability, multi-site,
multi-language, multi-currency, task based management systems, inventory
controls, quality controls, best practice adherence, distribution, integration
with leading equipment via programmable logic controllers including
drying tech/extraction machines, scales, testing machines, etc.
4. So TRiQSoft offers traceability from
“seed to sale”. What happens to the product when it makes it to
the dispensary? How does a farmer’s use of TRiQSoft benefit dispensaries?
Cultivation, Processing and Manufacturing
companies distribute their finished products to retailers. The traceability
is available to the retailer and the consumer via its special QR code
on the label. This makes its easy to recall compromised products,
as well as offer the consumer some visibility into the supply chain
so they can see where their product came from. A dispensary working
with a cultivator on TRiQsoft can rest assure that their supplier is
managing their production to a very high level as the software enforces
this upon the user, so a level of business acumen can be verified when
a dispensary works with a cultivator on our system. And as stated
above, the ability to easily recall items and protect their retail brand’s
customer experience.
5. How does TRiQSoft scale to meet the
unique requirements of each state?
We read the laws. We consult
the applicants and the operators. Ultimately, TRiQsoft has such
robust functionality that we rarely find new unique laws conflicting
with or requiring more of the system. When changes do need to
happen, they happen on the fly. If a user of the system finds
they need new functionality to comply, it is our top priority to fix
the issue. This can usually be done within 24hours if it is an
important issue. We have yet to see this happen however.
6. TRiQSoft seems to have an endless
number of features. What training and support is available when a customer
makes a purchase?
The TRiQsoft license comes with free
configuration, training and support. Although it has never been
needed, we can do on-site training at an additional cost.
7. Discuss TRiQ’s consulting services.
TRiQ’s consultancy consists of
over 45 years combined experience in the cannabis industry. We have
senior and junior consultants that work on various projects internationally.
We offer consulting on an “a la carte” basis all the way to commissioning
a facility. TRiQ has a whole system solution vision, which is
why we offer systems from seed to SKU, but our consultancy is what really
can take a company to a new level as we truly understand what it takes
to control costs of goods and increase quality inside the optimal equipment
and software environment. Our consultancy is what completes the
nexus between our offerings and feeds the innovation and integration
of the software and equipment.
8. What other products and services
does TRiQ Systems offer?
Well we have covered the consulting
and the software so what remains is equipment. We innovate and
manufacture our own, as well as distribute what we consider to be the
best solutions out there. CannTrol is a subsidiary of TRiQ and
manufactures the Vulcan-53 drying technology, which is bringing automation
and standardization of one of the most overlooked areas in the supply
chain. We manufacture our own line of tissue culture products
under the Maia brand and we will also soon be adding a nutrient, a rooting
compound and a soil product. We have three new products that will
be released next spring that standardize the harvesting, curing and
long-term storage processes. In regards to other company products, we
are partners with
Apeks Supercritical, an extraction equipment company,
which we are currently integrating with our software so you can actually
run their machines via our cloud and centralize you data. We are doing
this with our Vulcan machine and a new potency-testing machine as well.
Our vision is to integrate as much equipment with our software as possible
to move towards automation and the centralization of data.

9. Having been a big part of developing
the legal cannabis industry in the United States, what is some advice
you can offer to someone hoping to get their foot in the door in this
exciting new industry?

Join the National Cannabis Industry
Association
. Hire consultants early on.
I know that sounds self-serving, but the truth is that this industry
isn’t that simple and that mistakes can be costly. I have even
had existing clients not run things by me and have it result in major
financial losses and time setbacks. Do it because you believe
in the right to consume cannabis, whether adult-use or medical use.
Don’t just do it for the money. There are probably a lot of
safer easier ways to make money out there than this industry, so if
you don’t truly believe in what your doing it can run you down.
Be honest, be yourself.
